Now that you are in high school, your education may seem less as exciting as it once was. But it doesn’t have to be.
What if we told you that you could go back to the days when your education focused on immersive topics, hands-on projects, and interactive activities? What if your day was filled with experiences that empowered you to explore the world, seek new adventures, and make new memories?
You can, and we’re here to tell you how.
VLACS is a completely customizable program which means you can learn what you want, how you want, and where you want.
So let’s say you love to draw. Your favorite place to go for inspiration when drawing is the outdoors. You draw all of the time and would like to one day make a career out of it, but you are unsure exactly how to accomplish that. You can take our Drawing offering and learn through projects. That means you’ll be tasked with completing activities like designing sketches for a new shoe line and creating still-life artwork for a coffee shop. You can do these projects anywhere, like a local cafe, park, or anywhere you feel most inspired!
Perhaps you’ve always wanted to learn a new an instrument? We can teach you how to play guitar, piano, or ukulele! Taking our music courses is like having your own free private lessons (if you live in New Hampshire).
These are just some of many examples of how you can tailor your experience to your needs and interests. There are so many other ways you can spice up your day with VLACS.
We offer over 300 courses in different subjects – seriously!
But even with that many options, you may be interested in a subject we don’t offer yet. That doesn’t mean you can’t explore the topic at VLACS. In fact, you can actually customize your own experience around the subject.
To do so, you’ll need to find an outside expert who does the type of work you want to explore. Next, you should have some ideas of what you will do to demonstrate your learning and the deliverables you will produce to earn credit. A deliverable could be a presentation, animation, essay, or video. After you do that, reach out to us, and we’ll help you design the experience and enroll you in the appropriate offering.
If you are close to graduation, your future plans may be top of mind. You guessed it; we can help in that area too! Gone are the days when you wondered if your class material would have any relevance to your life in the real world. Over 100 of our courses are career-focused, so they are relevant and meaningful to things you will do in the future. During the career course, you’ll do various activities that will help you explore careers within the topic of the course. Some of the things you might do include creating a resume, cover letter, and portfolio or filling out mock job applications. You can even interact with a professional during a career course. Then, upon completion of your course, you’ll be issued a digital badge that signifies your new skills and accomplishments. This badge is useful because it can be shared with college admissions officers and employers who can view your badge and verify your credentials. That, and it’s also super fun to see how many you can collect!
The best part is that you can do all of these things in your free time. If you are enrolled at another school full-time, you can enroll with us as a part-time student and work around your schedule. You can also enroll with us full-time and make us your official school of record. If you do enroll in our full-time program, after completing the admissions process, you will be assigned an advisor for support and follow our attendance and graduation requirements. You’ll also have the opportunity to attend our graduation ceremony at the end of your high school career.
