Internet Connection
As long as you have Internet access and a device that meets the specifications outlined below, you can take courses with VLACS. Broadband is recommended but it is possible to access our resources with dial-up connectivity, however, it will take a little longer for pages to load. You might want to print a few lessons and work offline. You can then save and upload work when you are finished.
All students must also have a proper device that is compatible with our courses and has the capability to video conference. Families are responsible for obtaining these devices. More information about eligible devices can be found below.
*Note: At this time, not all of our courses are supported on tablets or Smartphones.
Headphone/Microphone Requirement
Many students own headsets that are used with MP3 players or gaming systems. In most cases, these headsets are also compatible with desktop and laptop computers. If you don’t own one you can purchase a basic headset for as little at $8 at discount department stores. Be sure to purchase a headset that is compatible with your computer.
Please know that we can assist families who cannot afford to purchase a headset. If you would like us to send you a headset, please include the text below with applicable information filled out in an email addressed to our guidance department.
Dear VLACS Guidance Department: We are not able to purchase a headset at this time. I understand that the headset which I will receive from VLACS will become my property and that VLACS will not be responsible for repairing or replacing the headset and/or computer to which it is attached.
