EARLY COLLEGE
In partnership with University of New Hampshire (UNH) and VLACS, high school students can take college courses and earn both college and high school credit. This program gives students the opportunity to get a head start with their college coursework in a cost-effective way, while also earning credit that counts toward high school graduation.

Fall 2026 courses are now open for enrollment. The deadline for fall enrollment is September 25.
You can register for dual enrollment courses and earn VLACS credits toward your diploma if you meet these criteria:
Both NH students and out-of-state students who have not already earned a high school diploma are eligible. See our tuition page for fees.
Must be a high school junior or senior and complete coursework prior to your 21st birthday.
Must have completed a minimum of high school sophomore English or equivalent (specific courses may have additional pre-requisites).
Select Early College Courses to view course materials and assignments before you make your selections.
If you have not enrolled at VLACS before, you will need to create a student account in Compass, our student information system. You cannot begin the course until you pay the administrative fee.
Once you complete your course, you will receive VLACS credit. Provided you complete it by the UNH deadline, you will also receive UNH credit.

UNH Dual Enrollment courses are taught by VLACS instructors, which means you will receive individualized instruction and support.

Early college courses cost a fraction of standard college tuition. Every credit you earn now is one less you pay for later.

Study on your schedule with fully online coursework — no commute, no rigid class times, and multiple start dates throughout the year.

Not sure what you want to study? Early college lets you sample real college-level subjects before committing to a major or a school.

Completing college-level coursework in high school signals academic drive to admissions teams. It’s one of the strongest things you can add to your application.

The credits you earn now can reduce your time to degree, which means less debt, less time in school, and an earlier start on your career.
Students can earn a total of 28 UNH credits through the Early College program.
