In this Advisory offering, middle school students will explore the following topics: positive mindset, healthy relationships, stress management, social media, career exploration, academic planning, and civic engagement.

Please note that this Advisory offering is for part-time student enrollment only. Students applying to the full-time program and/or students in the full-time program should not enroll in this course. Please speak with your Admission Counselor or Advisor to be enrolled in the appropriate advisory course.

Positive Mindset

Students will demonstrate an understanding of positive mindsets by examining the qualities and actions of a person that is grounded in a positive mindset and applying these techniques to their own personal growth.

Personal Well-Being: Healthy Relationships

Students will demonstrate an understanding of personal well-being and developing healthy relationships by examining positive mental and emotional characteristics, characteristics of a healthy relationship, and how one forms positive relationships with peers both face-to-face and in a virtual environment.

Personal Well-Being: Stress Management

Students will demonstrate an understanding of personal well-being by examining causes, indicators, and ways of managing stress.

Personal Well Being: Social Media

Students will demonstrate an understanding of personal well being by examining how to be safe using technology and how to identify and deal with cyberbullying.

Career Pathways Exploration

Students will demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between personal interests and potential careers by examining their personal interests, skill sets and evaluating careers that match with them.

Networking through Career Connections

Students will demonstrate an understanding of networking by making connections with professionals in various careers of interest and reflecting on these interactions.

Academic Planning

Students will demonstrate an understanding of academic planning by setting goals for learning in high school and developing a plan for achieving and periodically re-evaluating these goals.

Civic Engagement and Responsibility: Exploring Opportunities

Students will demonstrate an understanding of civic engagement and responsibility by brainstorming and researching areas of personal interest in their community and volunteering opportunities relating to one or more of these areas.
