This one-semester course by Carone Fitness focuses on the fitness components of muscular strength and endurance. Throughout this course, students establish their fitness level, set goals, and design their own resistance training program. They study muscular anatomy and learn specific exercises to strengthen each muscle or muscle group. Students focus on proper posture and technique while training. They also gain an understanding of how to apply the FITT principles and other fundamental exercise principles, such as progression and overload, to strength training.
During this course, you will learn career-related skills and earn a badge for this accomplishment. Students will demonstrate an understanding of strength fitness assessments and analysis by explaining the elements of a strength fitness assessment, describing strength goals, and explaining the strength training plans.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of the mechanics of strength training by describing preparation for strength workouts, describing strength training techniques, explaining the principles of strength training, and describing strength training equipment.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of strength training exercises by describing upper body strength exercises, describing lower body strength exercises, and describing core strength exercises.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of strength training wellness by describing the benefits of strength training, explaining injury prevention and treatment, describing nutrition for strength training, and explaining cross-training.
