Enrichment Experience Mandala (Grades 9-12)
In this course, students learn and practice first aid procedures for a variety of common conditions, including muscular, skeletal, and soft tissue injuries. In addition, students learn how to appropriately respond to a variety of emergency situations. They also learn the procedures for choking and CPR for infants, children, and adults. In addition to emergency response, students will explore personal, household, and outdoor safety, and disaster preparedness.
During this course, you will learn career-related skills and earn a badge for this accomplishment. Students will demonstrate an understanding of safety prevention by describing risks to personal health, explaining risks to personal safety, and explaining emergency preparedness.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of first aid fundamentals by describing types of emergencies and disasters, explaining first aid response, summarizing rules and procedures of first aid, and summarizing victim assessment techniques in first aid.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of muscle and skeletal injuries by describing muscle injuries and describing skeletal injuries.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of soft tissue injuries by describing cuts and contusions, describing hot and cold emergencies, and describing bites, stings and allergic reactions.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of life-threatening emergencies by describing types of emergencies, describing stroke and heart attack, and explaining life-saving procedures.
