VLACS’s Biology CLEP preparation course helps students get ready for the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) exam. This course covers the material needed to pass the corresponding CLEP exam, allowing students to test out of introductory college courses. For more information on earning high school and college credits through VLACS and CLEP, read our blog post here.
Biology covers three major areas of the biological sciences: molecular and cellular biology; organismal biology; and population biology, including evolution and principles of ecology.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of molecular and cellular biology by explaining the composition of organisms, describing enzymes and energy transformations, explaining cell division, and describing genes.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of organismal biology by describing plant structure and function, describing animal structure and function, explaining plant and animal reproduction and development, and explaining principles of heredity.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of population biology by explaining principles of ecology, explaining principles of evolution, describing principles of behavior, and describing principles of social biology.
