This engaging learning pathway allows students to explore various career fields while mastering key concepts and skills. For each competency, you can choose to complete a pre-designed project that simulates real-life career tasks or create your own unique learning experience. Regardless of your choice, you’ll engage in thorough research and apply what you learn to authentic career scenarios.

With the pre-designed projects, you’ll tackle real-world tasks that align with each competency. If you decide to design your own experience, you’ll collaborate with your instructor and a mentor to design and complete meaningful career tasks that demonstrate your understanding. Non-Profit Manager

Competency: The Byzantine Empire

You are a non-profit manager who is dedicated to fostering an understanding of monotheistic religions and leveraging historical insights to guide your organization’s mission. Your role involves exploring the roots and impacts of religious and cultural achievements, which will require an understanding of The Byzantine Empire.

You will create an educational program that will compare the major beliefs of monotheistic religions, describe the achievements of the Islamic Golden Age, and summarize the impact of the Byzantine Empire.

Set Designer

Competency: Medieval Europe and Japan

You are a set designer for a play, tasked with bringing the historical worlds of Medieval Europe and Japan to life through visually stunning and historically accurate stage designs. Your work involves portraying the cultural and societal nuances of these periods, which will require an understanding of Medieval Europe and Japan.

You will create a set design portfolio that will compare feudalism in Europe and Japan, explain the impact of religion on Medieval society, and describe achievements during the Medieval period.

United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Marketing Manager

Competency: Medieval Sub-Saharan Africa and the Americas

You are a United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Marketing Manager, tasked with creating campaigns that highlight the rich cultural heritage and historical achievements of Medieval Sub-Saharan Africa and the Americas. Your work involves showcasing the contributions of these regions to global history, which will require an understanding of Medieval Sub-Saharan Africa and the Americas.

You will create a marketing campaign that will compare sub-Saharan African kingdoms and empires, compare Mesoamerican and South American civilizations, and describe the influences of Mesoamerican and South American civilizations.

Anthropologist

Competency: Post Medieval Ideas

You are an anthropologist who is dedicated to studying human history and culture by examining the significant transformations of the Postmedieval period. Your research focuses on understanding societal changes and interactions during this time, which will require an understanding of postmedieval ideas.

You will create a comprehensive research presentation that will describe the effects of the Black Death, analyze the impact of the Renaissance, summarize the effects of the Age of Exploration, and explain forms of forced labor beginning in the 13th century.

Public Broadcaster

Competency: The Enlightenment

You are a public broadcaster who is committed to educating audiences about pivotal historical moments and their lasting influence on modern society. Your role involves creating engaging and informative content that brings historical movements to life, which will require an understanding of The Enlightenment.

You will create a documentary script that will compare the development of constitutional monarchy and absolute monarchy, explain the importance of the Scientific Revolution, and analyze the impact of Enlightenment ideals.

Sociologist

Competency: 19th-Century Societal Changes

You are a sociologist who is dedicated to studying the profound transformations of society during the 19th century and their effects on modern social structures. Your work involves analyzing historical trends and their implications for contemporary issues, which will require an understanding of 19th-century societal changes.

You will create a research report that will describe the impact of the Industrial Revolution, explain the causes and effects of imperialism, and summarize the influences of 19th-century reform movements.

Competency: The World Wars

You will create a series of historical map infographics that will explain the development of the world wars, analyze the crime of genocide, and describe the impact of World War II.

Photo Archivist

Competency: The Modern Era

You are a photo archivist who curates and preserves photographic records to document and illustrate pivotal moments in recent history. Your work helps to visually connect people to the significant events and trends of the 20th and 21st centuries, which will require an understanding of the modern era.

You will create an exhibit guide for curated photos that will explain the impact of the Cold War, describe the development of nationalist conflicts, and analyze the consequences of globalization.
