Probability and Statistics will introduce students to exploring data, sampling and experimentation by planning and conducting studies, anticipating patterns using probability and simulation, and employing statistical inference to analyze data and draw conclusions.
Segment I Concepts
Module 01: Exploring DataIntroduction to Statistics
Module 02: Collecting Data
Module 03: Probability
Segment II Concepts
Module 04: Probability Distributions
Module 05: Sampling Distribution
Module 06: Inference
Required Materials:
Students will demonstrate an understanding of data collection and analysis by explaining the gathering of sampling data, explaining how to conduct a survey, describing how to conduct experiments, and differentiating correlation and causation.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of probability by explaining concepts of probability, formulating how to compute probabilities, and evaluating probability simulations.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of statistical exploration of data by explaining measures of central tendency, explaining measures of variation, and analyzing displays of statistical data.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of probability distributions by explaining binomial probability distribution, geometric probability distribution, and normal probability distributions.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of sampling distributions by explaining statistical sampling, describing calculating sample means, and evaluating confidence intervals.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of statistical inferences by explaining the development and testing of hypotheses, describing how to interpret scatterplots, and summarizing least-squares regression.
