This engaging learning pathway allows students to explore various career fields while mastering key concepts and skills. For each competency, you can choose to complete a pre-designed project that simulates real-life career tasks or create your own unique learning experience. Regardless of your choice, you’ll engage in thorough research and apply what you learn to authentic career scenarios.
With the pre-designed projects, you’ll tackle real-world tasks that align with each competency. If you decide to design your own experience, you’ll collaborate with your instructor and a mentor to design and complete meaningful career tasks that demonstrate your understanding. Art Instructor
Competency: Color Theory in Painting
You are an art instructor at a paint party shop that hosts private groups. The instructors teach partygoers how to use color theory in painting.
You will create a painting with supporting notes that will explain the layout of the color wheel, compare color schemes and describe the use of color theory in a painting.ors.
Illustrator For a Children’s Publishing Company
Cmopetency: Watercolor Painting
You are an illustrator for a children’s publishing company. The company is designing the artwork for the cover of a new book and is considering a watercolor painting for the cover.
You will create a watercolor painting with supporting notes that will explain the characteristics of watercolor, explain watercolor techniques and describe the use of value in a watercolor painting.
Graphic Designer
Competency:Pop Art Painting
You are a graphic designer, working for a candy company in the advertising department. The company is launching a new candy and wants their promotional materials to incorporate pop art painting.
You will create a pop art painting with supporting notes that will analyze pop art paintings, explain the characteristics of pop art and describe the use of pop culture imagery in pop art painting.
Art and Craft Developer
Competency: Mixed Media Painting
You are an art and craft product developer for an art supply company. The company produces do-it-yourself painting kits for mixed media painting.
You will create a mixed media painting with supporting notes that will analyze textures of mixed media paintings, explain the characteristics of mixed media painting and describe the use of mixed media in a painting.

Color Theory in Painting
Students will demonstrate an understanding of color theory in painting by explaining the layout of the color wheel, comparing color schemes, and describing the use of color theory in a painting.
Watercolor Painting
Students will demonstrate an understanding of watercolor painting by explaining the characteristics of watercolor, explaining watercolor techniques, and describing the use of value in a watercolor painting.
Pop Art Painting
Students will demonstrate an understanding of pop art painting by analyzing pop art paintings, explaining the characteristics of pop art, and describing the use of pop culture imagery in pop art painting.
Mixed Media Painting
Students will demonstrate an understanding of mixed media by analyzing textures of mixed media paintings, explaining the characteristics of mixed media painting and describing the use of mixed media in a painting
