Projects allow students to demonstrate competence and understanding of concepts and skills by completing a career-related task. For example, the assignment might be to create a mural, a package design, a speech, a film review, or a movie set – you name it! These creative projects are about applying your learning acquired through in-depth research to real-world career tasks.

Each competency will be addressed through a project based on a real-life career task. Here are the careers you will explore: Specialized Tour Host, Genealogist, Biographer, and Event Planner.

Projects

Specialized Tour Host

You will take on the role of a specialized tour host for a francophone travel destination, tasked with creating an engaging video introducing yourself to your potential guests and a detailed written summary of your two day tour in French.

Genealogist

You will take on the role of a genealogist for a francophone heritage association, tasked with creating virtual francophone immigration experience exhibit.

Biographer

You will take on the role of a biographer for an educational website, tasked with writing mini-biographical summaries, in French, on great figures in francophone history, famous francophones!

Event Planner

You will take on the role of an event planner, tasked with creating an event proposal, in French, for a francophone holiday related event for a French speaking client.

Competencies

Three Verb Groups in Present, Recent Past, Near Future Tenses, and Object Pronouns

Students will demonstrate an understanding of the three primary verb groups including irregular and reflexive verbs in present, recent past and near future tenses, and object pronouns by using each to communicate in written and spoken French while discussing cultural and community-related information such as personal traits, gastronomy, and daily life.

Passé Composé, Imparfait, and Négative Formats

Students will demonstrate an understanding of the passé composé, and the imparfait by using each with adverbs of frequency and in negative formats to communicate in written and spoken French while discussing cultural and community-related information such as extended family and nationalities.

Plus que Parfait and Passé Simple Past Tenses

Students will demonstrate an understanding of various past tenses including plus que parfait and passé simple by communicating information about past events in written and spoken French about cultural and community-related information such as great figures in Francophone history.

Expressions of Indefinite Quantity, Causative form of FAIRE

Students will demonstrate an understanding of expressions of indefinite quantity and the causative form of the verb FAIRE by using each to communicate in written and spoken French while discussing cultural and community-related information such as transportation, holidays and getting things done.
