Unit 1: Using Excel

  • Explain how Excel can help both businesses and individuals meet their management information needs
  • Download, create, and save an Excel workbook
  • Open, save, and enter data into an Excel workbook
  • Plan appropriate uses of Excel within a business setting
  • Make basic changes to formatting and location of data within a worksheet and utilize data ranges to perform basic calculations

Unit 2: Customizing and Configuring

  • Configure and customize views for Excel worksheets, as well as page options and formatting
  • Sort and filter data, including default and custom options
  • Print data from an Excel workbook efficiently
  • Utilize the Quick Access Toolbar and change the available options

Unit 3: A Range of Data

  • Use advanced techniques to enter or change data in Excel
  • Format content using advanced formatting tools such as number or date formatting

Week 8: Pulling It All Together

  • Identify the correct tool for a complex task in Excel
  • Switch between different tools and skillsets while working
  • Properly prepare an Excel file for distribution and presentation in a business environment
  • Share and collaborate on a workbook, track changes and accept or reject them

Customizing Excel

Students will demonstrate an understanding of Excel customization by describing how to configure display preferences, explaining the organization of information, and summarizing various ways to protect information.

How to Display Data

Students will demonstrate an understanding of data display by explaining the operation of data formatting functions and describing the importance of an ePortfolio.

Table Management

Students will demonstrate an understanding of table management by explaining the features of a pivot table, describing ways to customize tables, and describing the basic principles of using “totals.”

Functions in Excel

Students will demonstrate an understanding of functions in Excel by explaining the use of functions, explaining various syntax rules, and describing the use of advanced functions.

How to Work With Charts

Students will demonstrate an understanding of how to work with charts by describing ways to manipulate information within charts and describing the functions of various types of charts.

Excel in the Workplace

Students will demonstrate an understanding of Excel in the workplace by describing ways to increase efficiency when using Excel, describing common uses of Excel in the workplace, and describing other applications within the Microsoft Office Suite.

Using Excel Tools

Students will demonstrate an understanding of the use of Excel tools by describing special tools in Excel and explaining the procedures for collaborating in an Excel file.
