Projects allow students to demonstrate competence and understanding of concepts and skills by completing a career-related task. For example, the assignment might be to create a mural, a package design, a speech, a film review, or a movie set – you name it! These creative projects are about applying your learning acquired through in-depth research to real-world career tasks.
Each competency will be addressed through a project based on a real-life career task. Here are the careers you will explore: Forensic Artist, Merchandise Displayer, Illustrator, Photographer, and Cartoonist.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of self-portrait drawings by examining and explaining the proportions of the human head and creating their own self-portrait.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of pointillism by explaining the techniques for creating a variety of values in pointillism and using ink to create a pointillism drawing.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of using color in their drawings by analyzing the different groups on the color wheel, mixing colors to create desired colors, and using colored pencils in a three-stage drawing.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of figure drawing by examining and explaining the proportions of the human body and using charcoal to create their own figure drawing.
Students will demonstrate an understanding of cartooning by explaining common characteristics of cartoons and applying them to their own cartoon creation.
